Hi, I’m Alan Trow-Poole

I’m a UX Designer with more than 20 years of international cross-discipline experience gained in Europe and the USA. I have a combination of both technical and creative skills, especially in digital transformation. I have been involved in complete software lifecycles, from initial business requirements, research, expert reviews, functional design, prototyping, usability testing, UI & visual design, to implementation and go-live.

I particularly enjoy working on complex enterprise UX projects, like Intranets, custom enterprise B2B apps., SCADA HMI Displays and logistics mobile applications.

Alan and I worked together on a project to update the user experience of our system. Alan was responsible for designing the new look and feel of all pages of our application, first by learning the detailed processes and designs that are currently in place, understanding the various use cases and then leading the solution designs working closely with key members of the business.

It has been a real pleasure working with Alan, he got to grips with the subtleties of our business very quickly and came up with a design suite that will undoubtedly take our system to the next level. Alan subsequently worked closely with the development team to ensure accurate implementation of the designs.

Having been involved in a number of UI/UX projects in the past working with various designers, i can say Alan is by far the best i have worked with. His work is excellent, his knowledge in the UX space is incredibly detailed and he was able to work effectively with all areas of the business.

I enjoyed working with Alan a lot and cannot recommend him highly enough.

Alan Trow-Poole and I worked together on a very complex Critical National Infrastructure Project. Within this project, Alan’s role was that of a Lead UI/UX architect. In the time having worked with Alan, he was formally recognised by the client leadership team for his contributions to the project, which I could not have agreed with more. I have no hesitation in recommending Alan as he truly is an expert in his field. Additionally, Alan is a team-player and is able to effectively communicate and understand what the customer wants/needs. I was able to on numerous occasions rely on Alan to drive deliverables to a conclusion, knowing that he had taken into account not just the UI but had also considered the off the shelf tools/frameworks available to the development team. I look forward to continuing to work with Alan in the future and know that any project would be lucky to have him.

I was lucky enough to work with Alan on a project with National Grid and Accenture where he was the UX Architect responsible for UX Process Design, conceptual sketches, user-journeys, wireframes and all interactive prototypes. Alan was my go to guy for all things UI whether that be layout, look and feel, screen functionality and flow or usability. Alan’s work and experience stood out in an environment where client requirements where constantly evolving, taking these changes in his stride and consistently delivering strong and consistent designs with supporting material. Alan produced some tremendous screen designs for the National Grid Gas Control Systems and on more than one occasion helped solve issues with screen real estate or user experience with innovative yet simple solutions. Another area of Alans role was to coach the Junior UX designers which was a task he seemed to enjoy. He was always happy to take the time to assist others no matter what his workload and was always very patient and helpful. It was a pleasure to work with Alan on the National Grid project and I wouldn't recommend Alan for any potential employer - I would actively encourage it!Description goes here

I enjoy working with Alan on every project we get to collaborate on. Alan is definitely led by, and has vast knowledge on the science of User Experience and challenges everything to ensure any product is absolutely right for the end user.

All devs, techies and business folk should work with a UX engineer and I would highly recommend Alan in that role.

He is also a thoroughly nice chap and a pleasure to work with.

Alan is simply the best user interface designer / information architect you are ever likely to find and you won't find anyone in disagreement.

Alan is quite simply an expert in his field, and a great guy to have around. He did a great job on one of my recent projects providing an innovative but highly usable interface for a ground breaking financial services web application.

Alan can work on site and/or from his own office, and he was happy to travel 2 hours to and from my project office!

If you need a User Interface designer or Information Architect, I would highly recommend Alan. He is a great asset to any team

Alan is quite certainly the most skilled Information Architect it has ever been my pleasure to work with. If you want a user interface designing to perfection then this is the guy for you. I just wish I had his skills at explaining abstract concepts to others - i'm just way too techy!
